La Liga giants Atlético Madrid have on Thursday announced two major developments in the club’s first-team setup.

The first comes in the form of a key contract renewal.

The player to have had his terms renewed by those in a position of power at the Metropolitano? Giuliano Simeone.

Wide-man Simeone has for his part established himself as a leading figure in the XI of father Diego across the season to date.

Across 27 appearances in all competitions, the Argentine has racked up an impressive 10 direct goal contributions.

And as alluded to above, this week, such exploits have been rewarded.

As per a statement across Atlético’s website and social media platforms:

‘Giuliano Simeone has signed a contract extension with our club until June 30, 2030. The winger was previously committed until 2028.’

As alluded to above, though, this is far from the only significant development in Diego Simeone’s squad on Thursday.

In addition, fresh off the sale of Conor Gallagher, Atléti have announced a 2nd permanent winter exit.

Just six months on from his arrival from Napoli, Giacomo Raspadori has secured a swift return to Italy, with Atalanta:

‘Atlético de Madrid and Atalanta have reached an agreement for the transfer of Giacomo Raspadori to the Bergamo-based club.’
