FC Barcelona are set to begin their UEFA Champions League 2025-26 campaign tomorrow, Thursday, with their opening fixture against Premier League side Newcastle United.
One day before the game, the Catalan giants announced the squad that will be travelling to the north of England for this match. As expected, there are some notable absences on the list.
The most significant of these is winger Lamine Yamal, who continues to suffer from groin pain and has therefore been ruled out of this game. Furthermore, he is also expected to miss the following two league fixtures.
Similarly, Alejandro Balde is unavailable as he continues to recover from the hamstring problem that also kept him out against Valencia. Gavi also remains sidelined as he works his way back from a knee injury.
On a positive note, Frenkie de Jong, who picked up an issue during the recent international break, has returned to the squad and will be available for Hansi Flick. The German coach has also included youngster Toni Fernandez for the trip.
