Official: Barcelona learn Copa del Rey quarter-final opponents | OneFootball

La Liga champions Barcelona have on Monday learned their next opponents in the club’s ongoing defence of their Copa del Rey title.

This comes amid confirmation that the Blaugrana have been pitted against 2nd-tier outfit Albacete.

Hansi Flick’s troops will head on the road for the quarter-final fixture, pencilled in for the 3rd of February.

Albacete have for their part already made a major splash in this season’s Spanish cup, courtesy of a shock victory over Real Madrid.

Just last week, in the first outing of the Álvaro Arbeloa era, Los Blancos were condemned to a last-gasp 3-2 defeat in Castilla-La Mancha.

Albacete, in turn, will set about making history once more early next month.

Turning focus towards the remainder of the Copa del Rey draw, Deportivo Alavés will play host to Real Sociedad, Valencia and Athletic Club have been scheduled to do battle at Mestalla, whilst Diego Simeone’s Atlético Madrid face a trip to Real Betis.
