Official: Barcelona squad list to face Newcastle United – key player returns | OneFootball

FC Barcelona are set to fly off to England to take on Newcastle United in their first game of the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League on Thursday night.

Ahead of their contest against the Magpies at St. James’ Park, manager Hansi Flick has announced the squad list of players at his disposal.

In a big development, Frenkie de Jong has returned to the squad after missing the weekend La Liga clash against Valencia through a minor injury he picked up while away with the Netherlands.

The 28-year-old has received the green light from the medical department and will be ready to step out onto the field against Newcastle.

However, Barcelona will once again be without superstar forward Lamine Yamal as he continues his recovery from pubic discomfort. Along with him, Gavi, Alejandro Balde, and Marc-Andre ter Stegen remain unavailable.

New signing Joan Garcia will play his first game in Europe’s premier competition while fellow summer arrivals Marcus Rashford and Roony Bardghji are also called up.

Youngsters Marc Bernal, Toni Fernandez, and Jofre Torrents all feature in the squad and could make their debut in the Champions League.
