Official: Cagliari sign Akarakiri, impressive 18-year-old free agent from Everton | OneFootball

Cagliari have announced the arrival of teenage sensation Demi Akarakiri, who spent time at the Arsenal and Everton youth academies.

The midfielder is from London and set to celebrate his 19th birthday in September.

Originally in the Arsenal academy, he joined Everton in 2024 and made the formal switch to Cagliari today.

Akarakiri new buy for Cagliari

Akarakiri has signed a contract to June 2030, the maximum possible for a player of his age in Italy, but it does give the club an option to extend for a further three seasons.

Last season, the English player made 33 appearances for Everton at Under-18 and Under-21 level, scoring three goals with two assists, where he was scouted regularly by the Cagliari officials.

It was during several visits to watch him in action that the Sardinians decided to swoop for the player, convincing him to come as a free agent.

Everton had offered him a new contract to stay on, but he rejected the personal terms, instead making the step up to Serie A.
