The English club Sunderland officially announced on Wednesday, July 9, the signing of promising Moroccan winger Chemsdine Talbi from Club Bruges. The 20-year-old becomes the team’s fourth summer signing in this transfer window.Talbi has signed a five-year contract after an agreement was reached between the two clubs for a fee estimated at £19.5 million.
In statements given to the club's official website, the player expressed how honored he was by this new step in his career: “I am very happy to join such a historic club. I want to thank Sunderland for their trust. What convinced me most was the club’s ambitious project and the quality of the squad, which is young and talented.”He continued: “The Premier League is, in my opinion, the most competitive and most watched league in the world. I can’t wait to start this adventure. I already feel the supporters are behind me, and I’m really looking forward to meeting them at the stadium.”Last season, Chemsdine Talbi played 38 matches in all competitions for Club Bruges, including 11 in the Champions League. He scored 7 goals, including two crucial strikes in the 3-1 victory over Atalanta during the Champions League qualification phase.Unfortunately, his team’s European campaign ended in the round of 16 after a heavy aggregate defeat (6-1) against Aston Villa.
