The Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) released its new monthly ranking of national teams this Monday, January 19, following the 35th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which took place from December 21 to January 18 on Moroccan soil.

The previous update to the world rankings was on December 22, nearly a month after the last publication.

Spain retains the top spot in the FIFA ranking with a total of 1,877.18 points, while Argentina holds firmly onto second place with 1,873.33 points.

Newly crowned African champions for 2025, Senegal made a spectacular leap, climbing to 12th place in the world after occupying 19th position in the previous ranking.

Morocco also made a significant jump in this new monthly ranking, soaring to 8th place globally, surpassing Belgium (9th) and Germany (10th), and achieving the best ranking in its history.

Riding the momentum of their impressive AFCON 2025 campaign, Nigeria surged to 26th in the world with 1,581.55 points, a jump of twelve spots compared to the previous ranking, where they were 38th.
