Conor Gallagher has left Atlético de Madrid for Premier League club Tottenham, with confirmation arriving on Wednesday afternoon.
The club said in a statement that an agreement had been reached with the London side for his transfer.
He did not travel to La Coruña for the Copa del Rey last-16 at Dépor. The midfielder departs a year and a half after arriving from Chelsea in August 2024.
Gallagher became important under Diego Simeone, making 50 appearances last season and 27 so far this campaign. Despite that prominence, the 25-year-old never fully settled.
He leaves having played 77 matches for Atlético, scoring seven and providing seven assists.
Tottenham are set to pay about 40 million euros, which will allow Atlético to recover almost all of the 42 million euros invested in summer 2024.
Gallagher expressed excitement about joining Spurs, said he wanted the move and described the deal as straightforward and quick. He is ready to play, has signed a long-term contract and will wear number 22.
His exit leaves Atlético needing to move in the market to bolster Diego Simeone's midfield options.
