FIGC confirms that Italy U21 coach Silvio Baldini will take charge of the senior Azzurri squad in June, for friendly games against Greece and Luxembourg.

Silvio Baldini will be Italy’s national team coach for the next two friendlies against Greece and Luxembourg, the FIGC confirmed in a statement on Friday.

As previously reported, Italy needed an interim manager for the next two matches, given that both coach Gennaro Gattuso and FIGC President Gabriele Gravina resigned in the wake of the Azzurri’s elimination from the World Cup play-off.

The new FIGC President will be elected on June 22, after which a new head coach for La Nazionale will be hired.

Italy’s next games, however, are scheduled for June 3 and 7, making it necessary to appoint U21 boss Baldini as the caretaker manager.

On June 3, the Azzurri will visit Luxembourg at the Stade de Luxembourg and four days later, on June 7, they’ll play away at the Pankritio Stadium in Candia against Greece.

Italy will then return to action in September 2026 for Nations League matches. The Azzurri are in Group 1 alongside France, Belgium and Turkey.
