OGC Nice have announced that Fabrice Bocquet is no longer the club’s president, effective today. The Ineos-owned Ligue 1 club is embroiled in a massive sporting crisis that resulted in nine consecutive losses in all competitions. Bocquet joined OGC Nice three-and-a-half years ago as CEO. He was then promoted to club president when Jean-Pierre Rivère left Les Aiglons.
“OGC Nice and Fabrice Bocquet announce that they have mutually agreed to end their collaboration“, said the club in a statement. L’Equipe understands that Bocquet decided to step down as OGC Nice president, acknowledging the need for a renewal at various levels of the club, particularly on the sporting side.
As a replacement for Bocquet, OGC Nice have announced the return of Rivère as club president. The former incumbent announced his ralliement to the far-right candidate for the Nice mayorship, Éric Ciotti. Now, he’s back in charge of OGC Nice. He would be assisted by former club president Maurice Cohen.
