La Liga giants Real Madrid have on Monday announced the latest departure from the club’s first-team ranks. The Blancos star to have brought a close to his stint with the club? Gonzalo García.
Frontman Gonzalo has of course been heavily linked with a move away from Spain’s capital across the summer to date. After Álvaro Arbeloa made known his hopes of reuniting with the Spaniard at Premier League outfit Fulham, the Cottagers kicked negotiations with the brass at the Santiago Bernabéu.
From here, the latter made clear their openness to a sale, upon securing reinforcements up top in the form of Levante’s Carlos Espí last week.
On Monday, it has in turn come as little surprise to learn of Gonzalo’s move to West London being confirmed. As per a statement across Real Madrid’s official website and social media platforms:
‘Real Madrid C. F. and Fulham FC have agreed on the transfer of our player Gonzalo García. Real Madrid, which will always be his home, wishes him and his family the very best in this new stage of his life.’
According to market insider Fabrizio Romano, the transfer is made up as follows:
‘€40m fixed fee, €2m add-ons, 30% sell-on clause and matching rights for Real Madrid.’
