Official: Real Madrid announce latest injury blow

La Liga giants Real Madrid have late this week announced a fresh setback on the personnel front.
This comes amid confirmation of the nature of the injury suffered by defender Raúl Asencio.
Asencio was for his part in from the off in midweek, as Real Madrid locked horns with Benfica in the playoffs of this season’s Champions League.
En route to Los Blancos booking their spot in the competition’s Last-16, however, the Spaniard was hauled off in alarming circumstances.
After a heavy collision with teammate Eduardo Camavinga, Asencio was left grounded and in evident distress.
Following a check on the part of the Real Madrid medical staff, the 23-year-old was loaded onto a stretcher and carried from the field of play fitted with a neck brace.
Asencio, in turn, was over the last 24 hours put through a round of checks and scans at Valdebebas.
And as alluded to above, on Friday, the results of as much have been posted.
As per a statement across Real Madrid’s official website and social media platforms:
‘After the tests carried out on our player Raúl Asencio by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a cervical strain. Awaiting evolution.’
