In a devastating bit of development, Real Madrid have confirmed that two key players – Arda Guler and Eder Militao – have been sidelined with hamstring injuries.

“Following tests carried out today on our player Arda Guler by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a muscle injury in the biceps femoris of his right leg. His recovery will be monitored,” the club statement on Guler read.

This comes as a bitter blow for Real Madrid considering that Guler had been one of their most in-form players of late, while Militao had only recently made his comeback from an injury.

While the official update from the statement does not mention a recovery period for either player, according to journalist Arancha Rodriguez, citing club sources, the season is practically over for both Guler and Militao.

Real Madrid have six games left to be played this term, all in La Liga, with their final match scheduled for the weekend of 25 May, almost one month from now.

And, it is expected that neither Militao nor Guler will be able to recover from their respective hamstring injuries in time for that as they will need at least four weeks to recover.
