Figueroa Vázquez, the individual in charge of overseeing VAR in yesterday’s La Liga meeting between Real Madrid and Real Sociedad, is set for an incoming break from duty.

That’s according to Marca, who have on Sunday provided an insight into the situation.

Refereeing controversy of course took its place centre stage in yesterday’s action at Anoeta.

This came after Dean Huijsen was shown a straight red card late in the first-half.

As much came for what was deemed a last-man challenge.

Ensuing replays of the incident, however, showcased the fact that Éder Militão had his defensive partner covered.

The widespread consensus, in turn, was that the decision should have been overturned.

It therefore came as a major surprise when, instead, referee Gil Manzano was not even called to the pitchside monitor by VAR.

And as much has evidently since been deemed a mistake by the CTA (Spanish referees committee).

As per a report from Marca, Figueroa Vázquez, VAR chief at Anoeta, will play no part in an upcoming round of La Liga fixtures.

This will come as punishment for his error on Saturday.
