La Liga outfit Sevilla have early this week bid farewell to a member of the club’s attacking ranks.
The player in question? Kelechi Iheanacho.
Frontman Iheanacho for his part only put pen to paper on terms with Sevilla in the summer of 2024, as a free agent.
The Nigerian’s ensuing year in Nervion, however, proved to be one to forget.
After struggling for form and fitness alike over the opening half of the term, Iheanacho was farmed out on loan to Championship side Middlesbrough in January.
With just a solitary league goal to his name across his time at the Riverside Stadium, the 28-year-old then returned to base in Spain earlier this summer.
After it quickly became clear that Iheanacho did not feature in the plans of the Sevilla coaching staff, though, negotiations over a fresh parting of ways were opened between the parties.
Amid a lack of suitors, as much ultimately culminated in the board at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan opening the door to a contract termination for Iheanacho.
And as alluded to above, over the last 24 hours, a definitive agreement was struck.
As per a statement across Sevilla’s official social media platforms:
‘An agreement has been reached with Kelechi Iheanacho to rescind his contract. Best of luck for the future, Senior Man’
