After a 1-0 defeat to Toulouse FC on the opening day of the Ligue 1 season, it was clear that OGC Nice needed reinforcements. Evann Guessand, Nice’s Player of the Season last time around, has left to join Aston Villa, however, he has yet to be replaced.
Up front, Nice have also lost Gaëtan Laborde, leaving Terem Moffi, returning from an ACL injury, as the only No.9 in the squad. Their lack of depth and cutting edge in this sector was evident on Saturday against Toulouse.
L’Équipe understands that Nice are trying to address this through the signing of Lassine Sinayoko (25). The publication understands that AJ Auxerre have turned down Le Gym’s opening bid, worth €6m, including bonuses.
Undeterred, Nice are expected to return with an improved offer for Sinayoko. The Malian international netted the only goal in L’AJA’s 1-0 win over FC Lorient on the opening day of the Ligue 1 season.
