Lyon’s pay structure has been reset, with new dressing-room heavyweights on more modest terms and all the top earners having arrived during the Textor era, which ended last June.

According to L'Équipe, six of last season’s 10 biggest earners have left, namely Lacazette, Matic, Cherki, Veretout, Mikautadze and Thiago Almada. In the coming months, the clear-out should be less spectacular, though the expiry of poorly aligned deals should lower the wage bill, unless they qualify for the next Champions League.
