Nicolas Tagliafico helped Argentina reach the World Cup last 16 with a 3-2 win over Cape Verde, while Ernest Nuamah’s Ghana went out in the last 32 after a 1-0 defeat by Colombia.

A late substitute in the 86th minute, Tagliafico won all seven of his duels and featured in extra time, when three goals arrived after the 90 minutes had ended 1-1. It was his third 100% duel return for Argentina since April.

Argentina will face Egypt in the last 16 on Tuesday 7 July at 18:00.

Nuamah also came off the bench for the final 11 minutes of normal time but could not alter Ghana’s fate against Colombia.

OL already know they will have the winger back within two or three weeks, a welcome return ahead of August, which includes two Champions League qualifying rounds.
