Congatulations to Dayot Upamecano and Michael Olise! FC Bayern’s two French internationals booked their ticket for the World Cup finals on Thursday night thanks to France’s 4-0 win over Ukraine. The draw for the tournament in the USA, Canada and Mexico will take place on 5 December. England and Harry Kane, who ended Serbia’s hopes with a 2-0 win at Wembley on Thursday, will also be in the draw. Here’s our round-up of the international action.

Just nine days after Bayern’s impressive 2-1 win at Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League, Upamecano and Olise returned to the Parc des Princes. The duo started for the hosts and helped to secure World Cup qualification, with Upamecano playing the full match alongside William Saliba in the centre of defence and Olise coming off in the 89th minute after a strong performance.

Following an uneventful first half, Les Bleus upped the tempo in the second period and took the lead through a Kylian Mbappé penalty in the 55th minute. Olise had won the penalty when he was fouled by Taras Mykhavko. Bayern’s wing wizard then made it 2-0 after 76 minutes, with Real Madrid star Mbappé and Liverpool’s Hugo Ekitiké completing the scoring in the closing stages.

Didier Deschamps’ men conclude their qualifying campaign on Sunday (18:00 CET) with a dead rubber in Azerbaijan. “We had the target to qualify for the World Cup at the Parc tonight – against a low and compact block. Then we loosened the reins in attack. I like that, I’m proud,” said Deschamps after the win at home.

Kane plays 65 minutes as England stay perfect

Seven games, seven wins, 20 goals scored and none conceded – that’s England’s still perfect record after the home match against Serbia. Bayern’s top goalscorer Kane led the Three Lions as captain for 65 minutes before being replaced by Manchester City’s Phil Foden.

The EURO runners-up took an early and deserved lead courtesy of Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka (28’) with a first-time finish with his shin. Thomas Tuchel’s side could’ve wrapped up the contest before half-time but missed a number of good chances – Kane, for example, headed wide from a corner. The Bayern striker earned the applause of the Wembley crowd in the 58th minute when he prevented one of the few dangerous attack from the visitors with a sliding tackle.

There were chances at both ends after that until Arsenal’s Eberechi Eze curled in the second goal three minutes from time. England travel to Albania, who already have a play-off place in the bag, in their final qualifier on Sunday (18:00 CET).
