Real Oviedo arrived as the visitors to face Barcelona at the Spotify Camp Nou on Sunday afternoon in what was the Catalans’ first game back at home in over a month and a half.
While the game was between the league’s top-placed and bottom-placed teams on paper, the first half felt far from such a disparity as the visitors fought neck-to-neck with Barcelona throughout the 45 minutes.
The second half resumed with the scoreline goalless, but Barcelona soon capitalised on two Real Oviedo errors in quick succession to make it 2-0 and put themselves in a comfortable position.
Lamine Yamal then scored a golazo to extend the team’s lead and virtually sealed the game and all three points.
Barça Universal brings you the player ratings from Barcelona 3-0 Real Oviedo.
The Barcelona goalkeeper was surprisingly the busier of the two shot-stoppers on the field in the first half and made two saves in just the opening period to keep his side in the game. Was far less busy after the break.

Making his first start since his return to Barcelona, the Portuguese international stuck wide on the left-flank and looked to cut in whenever given freedom in attack.
However, he still looked fragmented from the rest of the team and relatively isolated in the buildup. Further, he was given serious problems by Real Oviedo’s Haissem Hassan.
The youngster was unfortunate to receive a yellow card early in the game for a challenge where he really made no contact, but he had a busy evening as he constantly had to defend against a brave Real Oviedo attack.
He was sloppy with his distribution at times and contributed to the team’s overall poor first-half performance with some poor decisions as well. Was hooked off at half-time.
Cubarsi started alongside Martin and did well in defence as he was calm, collected, and did not hurry into any hasty tackles.
He held his line with composure and ensured that Oviedo did not get behind him often.
Playing as a right-back, Garcia did well defensively as he did not allow Ilyas Chaira to get into the game barring a few shots from defence.
Offensively, however, he was nowhere close to how involved Jules Kounde is and often left Lamine Yamal isolated in the final third with no overlapping options. Shifted to centre-back after the break.
Casado simply continued his underwhelming run on the night as he often struggled with even basic ball-control and his passing sequences in tight spaces.
The academy graduate occasionally chipped in with a bright ball over the top that showed his value, but he was otherwise disastrous both with his defensive work and ball progression.
The Barcelona captain silently produced another good display as he was one of the team’s only press-resistant players who would hold on to possession. His distribution was largely positive on a night when the rest of the team struggled.
With Pedri unavailable, De Jong took up the brunt of the responsibility in midfield, not only in holding off counter-attacks but also in progressing the ball forward. Flick really could not have expected more from him than he delivered.

Olmo started ahead of Fermin Lopez in the attacking midfield and got into some promising positions in attack combining with Lamine Yamal. However, he hesitated to pull the trigger and saw the chances go begging.
Beyond that however, he too was lacklustre with his combination play and often lost possession with mishit passes and poor touches which is rather uncharacteristic of him.
Scored with a great finish in the 52nd minute to hand his side the lead and then earned the assist for Lamine Yamal’s goal.

Yamal was one of Barcelona’s better players on the night as he did not hesitate to take defenders on and create openings. However, he was fouled often and struggled to get going with continuity on the night.
He conjured some of the best chances in the first half, but even Yamal’s distribution was not at its best last night as his passes occasionally fell straight to the feet of Real Oviedo players.
Scored a goal of beauty with a half bicycle kick to make it 3-0 for his side.
The Polish striker came close to scoring twice in the first half – once with a header and again from a low Eric Garcia cross late in the first half.
Got into good positions on both occasions but could not convert the passes which were slightly overhit. Was good with his movements after the break too, but did not get on the scoresheet.
The Brazilian pressed with intensity but did not get on the ball as much as he would have liked. Even he struggled to get into good scoring positions past Oviedo’s compact defence and only had real chances late in the first half.
Won the ball back with tenacity and scored with a brilliant lob above the goalkeeper to double Barcelona’s lead.
The Frenchman came on after the half-time break and changed the entire defensive structure as he moved back to right-back and Eric Garcia shifted to a central role.
His entry immediately improved the team’s attack on the right-flank as his overlapping runs potentiated Lamine Yamal’s threat.
