Andreas Schjelderup, 21, has reshaped his Benfica trajectory, emerging as a driving force in recent weeks.
According to Glorioso 1904, he weighed up a January exit but now wants to remain, with a contract extension under discussion.
The Norwegian is enjoying his most consistent spell at the Luz. He has featured in 14 consecutive matches, 10 as a starter, scoring five and supplying one assist, cementing his place under José Mourinho.
During the winter window a departure was a realistic prospect, with several clubs interested and the SAD open to talks. That changed as his minutes and output grew, encouraged by Mourinho, and he is now viewed as a dependable option.
He also endured a difficult spell late in 2025 following an off-field matter, which led him to consider leaving. After being named revelation of the year at the Cosme Damião gala, he spoke of playing, happiness and chasing trophies, and expressed gratitude.
This season he has made 35 appearances for Benfica, 20 in Liga Portugal Betclic, 10 in the Champions League, four in the Taça de Portugal and one in the Taça da Liga. Across 1,938 minutes he has seven goals and four assists. He is valued at 14 million euros.
