Leeds United climbed to 39 points with five matches left after a 3-0 win over Wolves, as Tottenham suffered more late pain.
Leeds started the weekend on 36, six clear of third-bottom Tottenham, after Monday’s 2-1 victory at Manchester United, then seized the chance on Saturday. James Justin and Noah Okafor struck within three minutes before Dominic Calvert-Lewin converted a 95th-minute penalty. According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, Opta have since updated their predicted final Premier League table and points.
Spurs, hosting Brighton in a 5.30pm kick-off, led 2-1 and looked set for their first league win of 2026. Substitute Georginio Rutter, formerly of Leeds, netted a late equaliser for 2-2.
Leeds sit 15th, eight points above third-bottom Tottenham, seven clear of fourth-bottom West Ham and six ahead of fifth-bottom Nottingham Forest, and both have a game in hand. Forest host Burnley on Sunday at 2pm, while West Ham visit Crystal Palace on Monday night.
Looking up, Leeds are three points behind Newcastle United, who lost 2-1 at home to Bournemouth, and also three behind Palace, who have a game in hand.
Opta now project Arsenal to finish on 82 points, five clear, with Manchester City on 77. Manchester United are forecast third on 66, up from 64, Aston Villa fourth on 65, Liverpool fifth on 61, and Bournemouth sixth on 55, up from 53.
