Alejandro Garnacho’s potential move to Chelsea has been discussed for months, but the last few days have seen a wave of talk from all the top insiders so significant that you can’t ignore it.
It seems like this deal is really going to happen now, and it could be soon.
Earlier today Ben Jacobs kicked off the latest round of rumours by claiming that Chelsea had opened talks with United over a deal.
Now top dog David Ornstein has gone a step further, writing a full article for the Athletic which has lots of information about the progress of the deal.

Ornstein says that Garnacho has ruled out all options this summer apart from either joining Chelsea or staying at Manchester United. The latter seems unlikely after the Argentine was told in front of his teammates to find a new club at the end of last season.
Despite his struggles at Man U and the character concerns which seem to make the Red Devils so keen to let him go, Chelsea’s interest is “long standing” and seems very serious indeed.
A £70m price has “previously been communicated to suitors,” although it seems unlikely United get that at this point. Chelsea want to pay £30m – we’d imagine a deal is done around £45m with add-ons to take it above £50m.
Jacobs’ report earlier claimed that Chelsea were hopeful that United’s impending purchase of Benjamin Sesko for €90m would force them to lower their asking price to try and get some cash in. Chelsea may well decide to wait this one out until closer to the deadline to see if they can get a real bargain price.
