So far this season Oscar Bobb has been out injured with a fractured leg. The Norwegian international went down injured on the eve of the 24/25 season. He played a starring role in Manchester City’s FA Community Shield win over Manchester United at the beginning of the season and appeared poised for a breakout season. But now Bobb is on the comeback trail from the injury that has so far scuppered his season. Despite his undoubted quality and potential as a player, Bobb will need time to rediscover his form and touch after such a long injury layoff.
In an interview with Jack Gaughan for the Daily Mail Oscar Bobb has said he is targeting a return to action at the end of January or the beginning of February. We are now beginning to get nearer to Oscar Bobb’s targeted return date. But expectations shouldn’t be too high for the young wingers’ return. He is coming off of a serious injury and will need time to rediscover his form, touch and fitness.
It also shouldn’t be forgotten that this season would’ve only been Bobb’s second as a member of Manchester City’s first-team squad. While he impressed last season and had an impressive pre-season tour of the United States he is a developing player. He is also a developing player coming off of a serious injury. So that must factored in when assessing what Bobb may be capable of after he returns from injury.
If there are glimpses of Bobb’s quality when he returns from injury that will be good news for Manchester City and the Norwegian international. It may take time before Bobb returns to his best. His return is an exciting prospect but the expectations shouldn’t be to high when he returns to the pitch.
