CD Castellón have announced the transfer of Óscar Gil to Real Murcia. The club said in a statement that the move is now official.

The Navarrese defender arrived in the first year of the Voulgaris era and became an important figure in the side’s rise. Comfortable at centre-back and as a holding midfielder, he was among the survivors of the 2024 promotion to Segunda.

Across his first two seasons in Primera RFEF he made 67 official appearances. Last term, in the second tier, he featured in 20 games and earned a summer renewal shortly after turning 30. This season he has played only three times, one in the Copa del Rey, taking him to four seasons, one promotion and 90 official matches.

With more than 100 matches in Segunda for Bilbao Athletic, Real Oviedo, Amorebieta and Castellón, he was among the squad’s most experienced in the division. A lack of minutes hastened his exit. At Real Murcia in Primera RFEF he will seek regular action and a fourth promotion back to the second division. The fee will depend on different variables.

Gil’s departure opens Castellón’s winter business. The next is set to be Nick Markanich, who is due to return to the United States, in principle on loan.
