Ounahi Leaves Marseille Struggles Behind to Start New Chapter at Girona
Girona've officially announced the signing of Moroccan international Azzedine Ounahi from Olympique Marseille with the midfielder penning contract until the summer of 2030.
Ounahi’s time at Marseille ended earlier than expected. He joined the French giants from Angers in Jan 2023 for 10 million euro but never cemented permanent place.
The arrival of Roberto De Zerbi last summer pushed him further out of the first team picture forcing the Atlas Lion to seek fresh challenge.
The La Liga outfit confirmed that the 24 year old will be key figure in their midfield rebuild. Known for his vision, creativity and ability to operate both as playmaker & deep lying attacker, Ounahi's seen as ideal addition to bolster Girona’s attacking options.
Ounahi spent last season on loan at Greek side Panathinaikos where he showed glimpses of his World cup 2022 form with Morocco.
Now with year contract in Spain, he aims to rediscover his best football and prove himself at the top level once again.
