At a time when questions are being raised about Gavi’s lack of playing time at Barcelona, a social media move by former teammate Ousmane Dembele has added further intrigue to the situation.
The French winger recently changed his Instagram profile picture to a photo of himself alongside the young Spanish midfielder from their time together at Barça, sparking speculation.
It must be noted that during his final season at Barcelona, Dembele strengthened his bonds with several teammates, moving beyond his initial circle of French players to form close relationships with Gavi and Pedri.
This camaraderie was not just personal but also had an impact on the pitch, as the trio’s chemistry helped elevate Dembele’s performances before his departure to Paris Saint-Germain.
While his social media update could be purely coincidental, the timing has raised eyebrows. Just over a year ago, PSG expressed interest in signing Gavi, particularly as they planned for Kylian Mbappe’s eventual exit to Real Madrid.

With the midfielder struggling for minutes at Barça, rumours are resurfacing about a potential approach from the French giants.
Reports from transfer market sources suggest that PSG could be preparing an €80 million bid, while Chelsea are also believed to be monitoring the situation.
Despite the ongoing speculation, Gavi has been clear in recent statements that he remains committed to Barcelona. He has dismissed talk of offers, insisting that he has no intention of leaving the club.
However, his current season has been challenging due to the fierce competition in midfield. With Pedri and Frenkie de Jong occupying key roles in a double pivot, Gavi has found himself on the fringes.
One potential opening for more playing time has now emerged following the long-term injury to Marc Casado, which could force Barcelona to reassess their midfield rotation.
So far this season, Gavi has featured in 26 matches but has accumulated just 917 minutes on the pitch. As the summer transfer window approaches, speculation will only intensify regarding his future at the club.
