Chelsea are reportedly already open to letting Alejandro Garnacho go after a disappointing first season at Stamford Bridge.

It always looked slightly risky for the Blues to be bringing in Garnacho from Manchester United after his mixed spell there, and it’s clear now that this gamble has backfired.

According to Simon Phillips, Chelsea are now open to offers for the Argentina international and are even hoping that there’ll be an opportunity for them to sell.

Garnacho showed some potential during his early days in the Man Utd first-team, but his career hasn’t really taken off as expected, and it will be interesting to see what happens with him next.

Where next for Alejandro Garnacho after failed Chelsea spell?

Chelsea might not find it that easy to offload Garnacho now, though Fichajes did recently link Atletico Madrid with an interest in the 21-year-old.

Tottenham were also one of the clubs linked with Garnacho by Football Insider before he ended up leaving United for Chelsea.

Still, there’s also surely a big risk that the player’s value will have dropped significantly after proving such a flop at Stamford Bridge.

With just one goal and four assists in 20 Premier League games this season, Garnacho has been unable to prove any of his critics wrong or take this opportunity to turn his career around.

In recent years, United have often been stung when it comes to player departures, with the likes of Marcus Rashford, Antony, Scott McTominay, and Rasmus Hojlund all improving after leaving.

However, that hasn’t happened with Garnacho, so that’s one sale the club definitely got right and there’ll be no regrets about their decision.

Some MUFC supporters might have seen it as a bit risky to let Garnacho join a top four rival, but the Red Devils truly ended up being the only winners in this deal.
