Mikel Oyarzabal is one goal short of 100 in La Liga for Real Sociedad, with 99 in 344 appearances. The captain could become only the third player in the club’s history to hit the century.

According to AS, Real Sociedad enter the final five league fixtures with Europe already secured via the Copa del Rey title. Pellegrino Matarazzo’s side are still targeting fifth place, which could offer a path to the Champions League.

Only Jesús María Satrústegui, 133 league goals, and Roberto López Ufarte, 101, have reached the mark for La Real.

In the race to be the leading Spanish scorer, Oyarzabal has reset his own numbers this season. He is close to Lamine Yamal’s 16, level with Ferran Torres on 14, and three clear of Toni Martínez of Deportivo Alavés and Borja Iglesias of Getafe on 11.

This campaign he also became the top marksman in Anoeta’s history with 69 goals, surpassing Darko Kovacevic’s tally by one.

La Real want to maximise their run-in with Oyarzabal continuing to deliver.
