Oyarzabal sets new La Liga best with 14 after Vallecas brace | OneFootball

Oyarzabal set a new La Liga personal best, reaching 14 league goals and 17 in all competitions. The Real Sociedad captain has surpassed his previous top-flight haul from 2018/19 under Garitano and Imanol Alguacil.

Diario Vasco highlights his relentless scoring form this year.

He struck twice in Vallecas, the first a Messi-like effort after collecting Barrene’s pass and drifting across the edge of the box before finishing left-footed. His second came from the penalty spot in the second half, and it was his seventh against Rayo in 13 meetings.

He is delivering regardless of role. Today he played as a No 10 behind Óskarsson, a week after leading the line in the Copa del Rey final when his goal also came from a penalty. He is the only Real player to have scored this season in all three kits, the txuri-urdin, the orange and today’s grey.

Since January he has 14 goals in under four months, 10 in La Liga, two in the Copa and two in a Spain friendly. He has also won a trophy and secured European qualification with his team.

The league run-in now awaits, then the World Cup.
