Leeds United favourite Pablo Hernandez has committed to CD Castellón with a new contract running until 2029. The hometown coach agrees terms after their promotion push ended in play-off heartbreak.

As reported by yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, Castellón’s LaLiga Hypermotion campaign concluded in the play-off semi-finals, settled by a 94th-minute Almería winner. Hernandez had stepped up to the senior role after a poor start under Johan Plat and transformed the season into a promotion bid.

The former playmaker first cut his coaching teeth with Castellón’s reserves, earning promotion before joining the first team staff. He sees his future at Estadio SkyFi Castalia and his assistant, Sergi Ripollés, has also renewed. Since his arrival, the side have recorded 20 wins, 10 draws and seven losses.

Club president Bob Voulgaris hailed the agreement, calling Hernandez a role model who understands the club and stressing that continuity and stability were priorities for the project.

Hernandez expressed deep pride at leading his hometown team and pledged to give everything to repay a fanbase he shares. Former team-mate Luke Ayling reacted on social media with, “Magic man.”
