Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Joao Palhinha has voiced his frustration following his side’s 2-2 draw against Brighton & Hove Albion at the Amex Stadium today.

The hosts struck twice within the opening 31 minutes, but Richarlison halved the deficit before half-time.

Tottenham’s persistence paid off in the closing stages when Mohammed Kudus delivered a cross that Jan Paul van Hecke turned into his own net.

Palhinha says Tottenham should have won

Speaking after the match to Sky Sports, Palhinha insisted Tottenham had done enough to win.

“I think we leave this stadium really sad, because we completely deserved to win the game,” he said.

“We started really well and created a lot of chances. Arriving in the last third in good shape. We suffered two goals against the run of play.

“It is not easy losing 2-0 away, in a tough stadium like this against a good team. We leave a bit with a feeling we could’ve done more.”

Tottenham will now shift focus to the League Cup, where they face Doncaster Rovers in the third round on Wednesday.

They return to Premier League action next Saturday at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Wolves are yet to pick up a point this season and will be desperate to upset the odds at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
