Palmeiras and Flamengo have emerged as surprise suitors for Southampton winger Leo Scienza, with a move back to Brazil now under consideration. According to Sainstmarching.com, Palmeiras have even submitted an offer for the £25m-rated 27-year-old.
The mood at St Mary’s remains upbeat after James Bree signed through 2029, despite Ross Stewart failing to agree a new contract. Southampton have also sealed permanent deals for Daniel Peretz and Cyle Larin.
Scienza impressed in his debut season, delivering seven goals and 10 assists in 37 Championship appearances. Everton and Leeds United have been routinely linked, amid talk of an alleged £25m release clause.
Signed for £8m, the winger could depart if that clause is met, though Southampton are keen to keep him for another promotion push. His future hinges on whether he buys into the project for another year.
Interest from Brazil adds another dimension, with both clubs monitoring his situation. A Premier League bid, if it materialised, could still appeal given the level of competition.
Some supporters might favour a Brazil switch over seeing him thrive in the Premier League while Saints remain in the Championship. For now, the decision rests with Scienza as the chase intensifies.
