Palmeiras have entered the final month of the window with gaps to fill after five exits and only Marlon Freitas signed. Globo.com reports that clubs can register players in the first 2026 window until 3 March.

After Sunday’s Campeonato Paulista loss to Botafogo-SP, Abel Ferreira issued his firmest plea so far, arguing departures must be matched by arrivals.

Five have left, Weverton to Grêmio, Micael to Inter Miami, Aníbal Moreno to River Plate, Raphael Veiga to América, and Facundo Torres to Austin FC.

Freitas has operated as the holding midfielder. The other options are 18-year-old Luis Pacheco and Emiliano Martínez, who joined last year and has struggled.

Palmeiras want additions in midfield, defence and attack, favouring experienced profiles. That has hindered moves, with pursuits of Nino, Fabinho, Arias and Almada stalling. Europe’s windows close this week, except Russia on 19.

Academy talent is covering shortfalls. Ferreira says this is a time to test and assess. Benedetti, 19, is now fourth-choice in defence, Larson, 20, has started well, and Pacheco, 18, has not played in the last three games.

Up front, Erick Belé, Riquelme Fillipi and Luighi, all 19, have earned minutes. Further internal boosts are expected, with Lucas Evangelista back training and close to his first outing this season, and Paulinho due to begin his transition this month. Both are considered potential starters.
