Palmeiras marked Raphael Veiga’s 31st birthday on Friday with a social media tribute. The attacking midfielder is currently on loan at América do México until December.
According to Globo.com, Veiga is Palmeiras’ leading scorer this century with 108 goals and 53 assists, and he lifted the Conmebol Libertadores in 2020 and 2021. His decisive streak includes 12 goals in finals.
He is out of the Verdão squad for now after moving to América do México in January, with an option to buy in the deal. The club have not indicated they will trigger it, and his stint has been mixed, with six goal contributions in 20 games for the Aguilas.
His future is set to be addressed in the second half of the year. During his time away he visited the Academia de Futebol and remains one of the most popular figures at Palmeiras.
In a farewell message, Veiga said he grew up sharing Palmeiras weekends with family, spoke of the joy of living his dream with the club he loves, and added that in life it is important to recognise the signs.
He is already in América do México’s mid-season camp as preparations continue for the remainder of the year.
