Paola Garcia scored her first Corinthians goal as they thrashed América of Mexico 8-0 on Sunday, sealing third place at the Teal Rising Cup.
After 10 minutes at CKPC Stadium in Kansas City, the Colombian met a Gabi Zanotti pass and drove in from outside the area past Hiel Velasco. According to Meu Timao, the 32-year-old joined after impressing at Deportivo de Cali.
Her strike added her name to Corinthians’ 2026 scorers alongside Carol Nogueira, who netted twice, and Ariel Godoi. Zanotti remains the season’s leading scorer with eight goals.
The US tournament also gave the midfielder her longest run of starts since arriving in January. She began both the semi-final against Kansas City Current and the third-place match. Before that she had only 17 minutes against Atlético Mineiro and América Mineiro in the Brasileiro Feminino.
Her opportunity followed absences for Duda Sampaio and Ana Vitória, who are with Brazil for the FIFA Series. Dayana Rodríguez has been called up by Venezuela for the Women’s Nations League.
Garcia will try to earn more minutes after the international break. Corinthians face Juventude on Monday, 20, at 21:00, at Montanha dos Vinhedos in round seven of the Brasileiro Feminino.
