Paris is braced for an exceptional 30-31 May weekend, with the PSG v Arsenal Champions League final, three major concerts, Roland-Garros and a rugby match driving a citywide security push focused on CCTV and drones. Authorities warn of a significant public-order risk, which could grow if PSG win on Saturday.

According to L'Équipe, 8,000 police and gendarmes will be deployed across Paris and the inner suburbs, alongside 2,500 firefighters. The mobilisation surpasses last year’s 5,400, and includes more than 40 CRS and mobile gendarmerie units.

The final is in Budapest at 6pm, with a screening at the Parc des Princes and potential celebrations or commiserations. In the same area, Roland-Garros continues and Stade Français face Bayonne at Jean-Bouin at 2.30pm. A CGT culture protest and evening shows add to the load, with Aya Nakamura at the Stade de France, Damso at Paris La Défense Arena and Bouss at the Accor Arena.

Key gathering points such as the Trocadéro, Les Halles, a partly pedestrianised Champs-Élysées and transport hubs will face heightened monitoring via Paris’s dense video network. Rapid-response teams using motorcycles and drones will be used to detect crowds and guide units, with reinforced custody processing across the metropolis.

At a Friday briefing at the Paris police prefecture, Patrice Faure urged firmness within the law, warned against disorder and told officers they have his full confidence, in line with Interior Minister Laurent Nunez. With an orange heat alert in place, police have checked cellars for fireworks, removed or secured machinery and asked councils to bring in bins, with deterrence and a graduated response the watchwords.
