A total of 416 people were arrested across France, including 283 in Paris, after unrest during celebrations of PSG’s Champions League victory.

The interior minister, Laurent Nuñez, announced the figures and described the incidents as absolutely unacceptable, adding that seven police officers were injured, one of them seriously in Agen with a head injury.

Trouble and looting were reported in about 15 cities, notably Rennes, Strasbourg, Clermont-Ferrand and Grenoble, though the worst scenes were in Paris.

About 20,000 fans gathered on the Champs-Élysées to mark the final between PSG and Arsenal, and unrest flared across several parts of the city, including a brief blockage on a section of the capital’s main ring road.

Sunday’s trophy presentation for the players and staff at the Champ de Mars is scheduled to go ahead as planned.

Around 90,000 people are expected at the Champ de Mars, at the foot of the Eiffel Tower, within a security perimeter with entry checks.
