The CEO of Parma, Federico Cherubini, has shed light on the background to Ange-Yoan Bonny and his path to Inter Milan.
Speaking at Parma’s end-of-window press conference, Cherubini reflected on the club’s approach to handling interest in key players.
“Keeping your strongest players in January depends on the will of the players and how much strength the club has to keep them,” Cherubini explained.
“Some enquiries came in, but none of the lads showed any desire to leave Parma now.”

He then looked back to the previous winter window, when Bonny was attracting attention.
“In January a year ago we faced a similar situation with Bonny. We asked Ange-Yoan to stay with us until the end of the season, guaranteeing that if opportunities arrived we would support his path. And that’s what happened.”
Cherubini’s comments underline how Parma sought to balance their sporting needs with the ambitions of a young striker widely regarded as one of France’s most promising prospects.
For Inter, Bonny’s eventual arrival represented a long-term investment in attacking talent. For Parma, the deal was the culmination of a carefully managed process that ensured the club retained the player when needed, before allowing him to take the next step in his career under agreed conditions.
