Former Blue Pat Nevin has claimed he wouldn’t be surprised if Chelsea made a huge offer this January for Alexander Isak.
The January window is now in full swing and the expectation was that Chelsea would have a quiet window with not much business in the way of incomings.
However, with defensive injuries to Wesley Fofana and Benoit Badiashile, it looks like the club’s plans may have altered and a new centre back could arrive, with Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi of interest.
It’s no secret Chelsea are looking to bring in a new centre back, but they also need help at the other end of the pitch, where a lack of an alternative to Nicolas Jackson is having an impact on the team.
The Blues pulled out of a deal for Samu Omorodion in the summer, whilst they failed to agree a deal with Victor Osimhen despite heavily pursuing the Nigerian.

Jackson has done well with nine goals so far this campaign, but Christopher Nkunku hasn’t delivered as a nine and Marc Guiu is still very raw.
Chelsea hold an interest in Liam Delap, although a January move for the Ipswich forward is believed to be unlikely, whilst any new attacker coming in would more than likely hinge on Nkunku leaving.
However, Nevin has made a bold claim and stated he wouldn’t be surprised if Chelsea made a huge bid for Isak if they get a hint he might be available.
“I would not be surprised if Chelsea made a huge bid for Alexander Isak this January if they get any sort of hint that he is available,” he told Grosvenor Sport as cited on X.com.

Chelsea enquired for Isak over the summer as they tried to take advantage of Newcastle’s PSR problems, but the Magpies are believed to want £150m for the Swede, who is one of the best strikers in the league.
Isak would make a huge difference to Chelsea, but the chances of the Blues spending that much money are very slim let alone in January.
