Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson can’t believe Chelsea haven’t made a move for Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze this summer.

The Blues have once again been busy in the window, and have made four exciting signings in Jorrel Hato, Liam Delap, Joao Pedro and Jamie Gittens.

Chelsea aren’t finished there, and are hoping to complete deals for both Alejandro Garnacho and Xavi Simons, whilst there’s a small chance another centre back could arrive before the end of the window.

Paul Merson can’t believe Chelsea haven’t moved for Eze

Chelsea reportedly want eight or nine attacking options to rotate between in their squad next season, as they prepare to return to Champions League football.

The Blues have already signed three new attackers, whilst Estevao Willian has arrived with a deal agreed for the Brazilian teenager last summer.

If deals for Garnacho and Simons go through that will mean Chelsea will have signed five new attackers in one window, which is quite the revamp.

However, Merson has shared his thoughts and he can’t believe Chelsea haven’t decided to make a move for Palace star Eze.

“I cannot believe Chelsea aren’t going for Eberechi Eze,” he told Sky Sports as cited on X.com.

“I really don’t know what I am missing. They buy winger after winger, but they need guile.

“They need more than Palmer. If you get Eze, you then have two players who can break teams down.”

Chelsea were linked to Eze earlier this summer, and he impressed in last Sunday’s draw at Stamford Bridge, but it seems the England international is closing in on a move to Tottenham.

Xavi Simons deal close for Chelsea

Whilst Chelsea won’t be signing Eze, the deal for Simons is getting closer, and the Dutchman is similar to Eze in a sense he can play both off the left and as a number ten.

Simons wants to join Chelsea, and the Blues have been locked in negotiations with RB Leipzig for weeks, although no official offer has gone in.

Chelsea have reportedly set up a deal for Simons, but they won’t finalise it until Christopher Nkunku or Nicolas Jackosn have left the club, and it’ll be interesting to see what the final fee is.
