Paul Pogba has returned to the AS Monaco squad for the visit of Marseille on Sunday 5 April at 20:45, in Ligue 1 matchday 28. According to Nice-Matin, he has been called up.

He has not played a competitive game since 5 December, the 1-0 defeat at Brest. He has been absent from Monaco’s squads since 9 December, the 1-0 Champions League win against Galatasaray, when knee pain kept him on the bench.

He will not start, but Sébastien Pocognoli has named him among the 22 for Sunday night at Louis-II. The coach said on Friday that the 33-year-old midfielder was available for this key fixture in the race for the Champions League.

Since signing a two-season deal in June, Pogba has played only 30 minutes across three matches, hampered by an ankle sprain and muscle issues in his thigh and calf. During the international break he scored in a friendly against Brentford U23, playing the first 25 minutes.

In his own time he travelled to Catalonia with Ansu Fati to work at FC Barcelona’s facilities. Kassoum Ouattara, Caio Henrique, Takumi Minamino, Vanderson Paris Brunner and Mohammed Salisu are injured and will miss the game.

Monaco’s squad: Goalkeepers Lienard, Hradecky, Köhn. Defenders Kehrer, Faes, Dier, Mawissa, Teze. Midfielders Akliouche, Bamba, Cabral, Camara, Coulibaly, Diatta, Golovin, Idumbo, Pogba, Zakaria. Forwards Biereth, Balogun, Fati, Adingra.
