Paul Pogba visited France’s squad on Monday and will be in the stands for their World Cup opener against Senegal at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford on Tuesday, kick-off 21:00. He may have dreamed of making the 26, but he has stayed close to the group.
According to L'Équipe, he stopped by the Westin in Newport to greet former team-mates and welcome new faces on the eve of the campaign.
He went room to room, spending time with N'Golo Kanté as well as Kylian Mbappé and Marcus Thuram. He also dropped in on Lucas Hernandez.
Pogba met Didier Deschamps during the visit. The France coach has selected him 91 times and will bow out this summer.
Pogba told Hernandez he was there to support the team, while Deschamps jokingly asked if he was dressed like an actor.
Whether he becomes a lucky charm for Les Bleus remains to be seen.
