Ahead of the meeting between Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City, our PSG Legends tell us about their fondest memories of the big games and their connection with the fans. Pedro Miguel Pauleta, a Parisian from 2003 to 2008, gave us his perspective.
Pedro, what do you remember about the big European games at the Parc?
'They're always special matches. I was lucky enough to play in the Champions League and the UEFA Cup with Paris, and to experience the great European cup nights at the Parc des Princes. These are different matches, with a special, gala atmosphere in the stadium. For me, it's a source of pride to see Paris Saint-Germain playing these great matches today.'
What impact did the Parc des Princes crowd have at these big games?
'It was enormous. It's a very powerful thing for the players and the team as a whole. I remember that every time we walked out onto the Parc pitch, the fans' chants gave us an extra boost, an exceptional boost. They can clearly make the difference. The club has incredible supporters and they're always behind the players. Their support in matches like this is fundamental.'
Do you have any particular memories of deep connection with the fans at the Parc des Princes?
'Yes, I have many. When we played against Marseille, Bordeaux or Lyon. Or Champions League matches. The atmosphere was incredible, you could feel the love for the whole team, the unwavering support. The Paris Saint-Germain fans are always behind their team, from the start of the match right through to the end. It's a source of strength for the team, and I know that will be the case again on Wednesday against Manchester City.'
