According to Jorge Nicola, president Pedrinho has no interest in changing Vasco da Gama’s head coach for next season, with Fernando Diniz expected to remain despite a Copa do Brasil runners-up finish and an inconsistent end to 2025.

Diniz’s second spell has brought 43 games, 18 defeats and a return of only 42%, yet internal backing remains strong.

The football leadership, led by Pedrinho and Felipe, views the short gap between the end of 2025 and the start of 2026 as insufficient to justify a drastic shake-up.

Beyond logistics, Pedrinho’s appreciation for Diniz’s style and faith in his ability to revive players have also weighed in.

Diniz’s contract runs until December 2026. Barring an unexpected twist, he will take charge when the squad reports back in January.
