Pep Guardiola is set to lose another key member of his coaching staff, as Carlos Vicens is reportedly on the verge of being appointed as the new manager of Portuguese club Braga.

Vicens, who has worked under Guardiola at Manchester City, is the latest in a growing line of coaches who have moved on to managerial roles at clubs across Europe after benefiting from the experience of working with one of the game’s most successful and influential managers.

His potential move to Braga follows a familiar pattern seen with several of Guardiola’s former assistants. Mikel Arteta, now at Arsenal, and Enzo Maresca, recently appointed at Chelsea, both made the leap into management after working under Guardiola. Domenec Torrent, who worked closely with Guardiola at Barcelona and Bayern Munich, most recently managed Atlético San Luis in Mexico.

Braga are currently looking for a new manager following the dismissal of former Swansea and Sheffield Wednesday boss Carlos Carvalhal at the end of the season.

Reports from Portugal indicate that Vicens has already been interviewed for the role and that an official announcement confirming his appointment is expected soon.
