Eyebrows were raised before Manchester City’s 4-2 defeat to PSG when Jeremy Doku wasn’t named in the Manchester City travelling squad for the match. Doku had put in a man-of-the-match display during City’s 6-nil win over Ipswich Town last Sunday. Pep Guardiola has confirmed that Doku has suffered an injury in yet another injury blow for the Premier League champions.

In quotes relayed by CityXtra Pep Guardiola explained the situation surrounding Jeremy Doku. Speaking before City’s defeat to PSG Guardiola said that Doku was injured. He explained: “He’s injured. Otherwise, he would’ve travelled (with the squad). The last minutes at Ipswich he felt something, and unfortunately he could not be here.”

Jeremy Doku joins Nathan Ake, Rodri and Ruben Dias as players who are currently injured. Injury issues have plagued Pep Guardiola’s squad all season long. The situation doesn’t appear to be easing with Guardiola’s latest update on Jeremy Doku. The hope is that Doku’s fresh injury doesn’t keep him out for a lengthy period. He put in arguably the best performance of his Manchester City career against Ipswich Town and his game does appear to be developing. It remains to be seen just how long he will be out now.

A further update on the injury situation surrounding the Manchester City squad is expected when Pep Guardiola fronts the media later today. With several players currently injured it is expected that Guardiola will have an update on his players ahead of what shapes as a critical Premier League fixture against Chelsea at the Etihad on Saturday.
