Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is unsure if Erling Haaland will be fit to face Tottenham on Wednesday.

The striker was missing entirely from the City squad named to face Liverpool on Sunday, having failed to shake off the injury which also saw him sit out the loss to Real Madrid in midweek.

Speaking earlier this week on Haaland's fitness, Guardiola said: "With the (scans) we have done, it’s fine but he has discomfort walking, for example with stairs, and we spoke [on Monday] and he said he’s not ready, he doesn’t feel good.”

Asked on Friday if Haaland will be fit to face Liverpool, the City boss said: “I don't know yet. [Saturday] we will know.”

Guardiola confirmed the decision was made after training on Saturday, which throws into doubt Haaland's participation away at improving Tottenham in midweek.

The City boss told Sky Sports: "[Decision was made] yesterday, after training. He has improved but he didn't feel good.

"I hope [he can face Spurs]. We will see. Hopefully, he comes back when he feels good.

“Obviously, we miss it. But during these nine years, we played many seasons without really, really important players, and we survived.

“And this season, we had a lot a lot a lot of injuries that we could not survive. And but in specific games we’ve had to do it.”
