Bafana Bafana forward Percy Tau made his debut for his new club Nam Dinh FC in the AFC Champions League Two on Wednesday.
The Vietnamese champions claimed a convincing 3-1 victory over Ratchaburi FC of Thailand in the opening match of Group F.
Tau caught the eye as he set up Brazilian center-forward Brenner, who doubled the lead seven minutes after the restart.
While Nam Dinh have already played four matches in the Vietnamese V.League, the 31-year-old is yet to feature in a domestic fixture.
The former Al Ahly star signed for the three-time Vietnamese champions last month, inking a one-year deal with an option to extend by a further 12 months.
Meanwhile, compatriot Njabulo Blom, who joined the team in July, is yet to make his debut for the club as he is enduring a spell on the sidelines due to injury.
The Kaizer Chiefs academy graduate greenlit the move to Asia on the back of a loan spell with the Soweto giants during the 2024/25 season.
Blom will be eager to return to full fitness in a bid to stake his claim in the starting XI and hopefully play his way into Hugo Broos’ plans, along with Tau.
