Peter Moore says Wrexham are building a club capable of coping with the Premier League, while urging sensible consolidation. Their summer begins at Wisla Krakow, then brings Premier League opposition in Helsinki, Tampa, New York City and Philadelphia.
According to NY Times, the 71-year-old former Liverpool chief executive, now advising Wrexham and a minority shareholder at Wisla, counselled Rob Mac early on and used EA Sports links to put the club into FIFA 22.
He says both Wrexham and Wisla were saved by their fans. The Krakow friendly marks Wisla’s 120th anniversary, with about 1,500 travelling supporters and an atmosphere he suggests could be more intense than some expect.
Several former Liverpool colleagues are now at Wrexham, including chief of staff Tina Roberts and supporter liaison Yonit Sharabi, alongside chief executive Michael Williamson and director Shaun Harvey. With a new Kop stand due next year, Moore believes the infrastructure will match ambition.
He also warns that rapid promotion can expose clubs, citing Luton Town, and argues Wrexham should stabilise as crowds and revenues grow. After Krakow they face Manchester United in Helsinki on July 18, then play Leeds United in Tampa, Liverpool in New York and Sunderland in Philadelphia.
The Carabao Cup begins at Middlesbrough on August 7, before a Welsh derby at Cardiff City 10 days later starts a league campaign expected to feature another promotion push.
